          The Harding Pattern:

In 1923, President Harding and his wife, Florence, visited the Wesst to dedicate a portion of the Old Oregon Trail. At the ceremony, Chief Cap Sumkins of the Cayuse tribe and Chief Poker Jim of the Umatilla tribe presented the First Lady with a newly designed blanket that symbolized Mrs. Harding's sincere and forthright nature. Since 1926, this unique design has been known as the 'Harding'.
